National Workshop Conducted on Implementing E-Traceability Systems for Aquaculture
On February 10, 2025, the Fish Farm Owners Association of Bangladesh (FOAB) hosted a high-level technical workshop at the CIRDAP Auditorium, Dhaka. Presided over by Founder President Molla Sumsur Rahman Shahin and addressed by Chief Technical Advisor Dr. Nitta Nanda Dash, the session presented digital value-chain tracking standards designed to ensure food safety, verify feed protocols, and support export competitiveness.
The workshop highlighted key systemic gaps in traditional fisheries commerce: unverified origin of broodstock, lack of water parameter telemetry, and reliance on handwritten invoices that can easily be manipulated. Through the newly launched FOAB E-Traceability pilot, participating farmers demonstrated how fingerling stocking, pond liming, dissolved oxygen monitoring, and harvest clearing can be securely logged.
"Bangladesh aquaculture is entering an era where transparency is non-negotiable," stated Molla Sumsur Rahman Shahin. "Export buyers and domestic consumers alike demand verifiable proof that fish were raised ethically without banned chemical residues. FOAB's cryptographic verification infrastructure gives our farmers the tool to validate their integrity directly."
Technical sessions walked attendees through the mobile registration of grow-out ponds, batch QR code printing for live fish transport vehicles, and the process of obtaining official FOAB Digital Member cards. Regional coordinators announced that follow-up workshops will be scheduled across Mymensingh, Bogura, and Jashore in the coming quarters.
